Gruber Excavating is a family-owned business that was founded in 1983 by Bill and Vicki Gruber. Daughter Corri was involved in the business at a young age, and worked for her father through high school and college. Corri met her husband Chris Barry while attending college, and they married in 2005. The couple relocated to Clancy and Chris began working at Gruber Excavating, testing the waters of working for his father-in-law. He proved to be an integral part of the operating team and soon Chris was conducting project bids and estimates, running crews, and managing projects. With the company in good hands, Bill officially turned the business over to Chris and Corri in 2015 as he battled cancer for a second time.
The business specializes in road building, driveway building and maintenance, grading, decomposed granite, topsoil, landscape materials, dust control, ice melt and superior work and craftsmanship. Their reputation is built on more than three decades of commitment to quality and customer service. During the summer of 2018, the business purchased A10 Drilling and Toney Water Systems, a long standing and successful business located in East Helena. This acquisition expanded their team from ten to fifteen employees and helped them explore new possibilities to grow and serve their community.
Gruber Excavating has built a reputation for quality work encompassing basements, septic systems, foundations, roads and really anything to do with dirt work. Bill passed away in 2016, but his legacy and commitment to the work he loved continues through his family. As second-generation business owners, Chris and Corri Barry are committed to continuing the legacy of providing superior quality and personalized services to their customers.
