The Montana State University Department of Agricultural Economics and MSU Extension will host an agricultural economics conference, “Managing Land Resources in the Context of Variable Weather” on Nov. 3,  in MSU’s Procrastinator Theater, located in the Strand Union Building. The conference, part of the  annual Celebrate Agriculture event in MSU’s College of Agriculture, will feature several MSU agricultural economics and Extension faculty speakers on topics of interest to Montana’s agricultural industry, including: farm finances, drought, land valuation, public lands, peas and lentils, and farm policy.

Nicole Jones, senior law enforcement and security counsel at Google, will present “Cybersecurity and Privacy: The Perspective of a Google Lawyer” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Jabs Hall 111 on the Montana State University campus. The lecture is free to the public and part of the MSU Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship’s David Orser Executive Speakers Forum. The Montana Chamber of Commerce will conduct its Annual Meeting in Great Falls on October 26. Preceding lunch, will be a Workforce Development Panel, in which experts will address the state of workforce development, how business and higher education can work together; and matching future workforce needs with education. The public event will conclude with an Entrepreneurship Panel. Events will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) will hold a Sector Growth Workshop on December 5, 8 am to 5 pm, in Billings. The workshop poses such questions as: “What would it look like if the Billings area was a regional center of manufacturing excellence?” and “What’s your role in improving outcomes for your company, our local economy, and the workforce?” Issues such as the skills gap, digitalization, automation, and customer relations.
